Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick bring their directed horror comedy 'Family Movie' to Sitges
Sitges says Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick co-directed the horror comedy Family Movie, and Catalan News says YouPlanet will distribute it in Spain.
Coverage noteThis desk describes technique and industry news, not plot, and treats on-screen effects as craft, not spectacle. When a story does need to discuss plot specifics, the standfirst says so before you scroll further.
Why this matters: our read
A festival programming note and a Spanish distributor are the only parties named here, and no release date is given. They tell us who has the film in one country and one festival, and nothing about a wider release.
The Sitges Film Festival says “Family Movie” is a horror comedy co-directed by Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, and that it is Bacon’s first horror directing effort. The festival lists it in its Sitges Collection strand.
Per the festival, the cast is Bacon, Sedgwick and their children Sosie and Travis Bacon. The setup is a family of filmmakers shooting a low-budget slasher who find a corpse on set. The festival adds that the film “reminds us that humor and horror are first cousins,” which is its own framing and not a review.

Catalan News, reporting on the festival’s announcement, says the couple will present the film at Sitges and that YouPlanet will distribute it in Spain. The festival’s item does not name a distributor. We found no release date or distributor for any other country in the sources we read.
Bacon and Sedgwick are also among this year’s Grand Honorary Award recipients. We have not seen “Family Movie.”
